A Rainy Cape Town, a Rousing Bok Victory & a Weekend to Remember đđ
The skies opened over Cape Town, blasting an icy rain over proceedings, but this would not dampen the âGEESâ at DHL Stadium. With 45,000 fans, locals, travellers, and die-hards alike, the city came alive as the Springboks delivered a thunderous 54 â 7 win over the Barbarians.
For the third straight year, the Boks hoisted the Prestigious Qatar Airways Cup, and for everyone who journeyed with us: thank you for making it more than just a match.
đ§ïž Weather or Not, the Boks Brought the Heat
The energy wasnât just in the stadium. It was on the streets, on buses, in breakfast queues and airport lounges. From green-and-gold kits to painted faces, from rain ponchos to passionate chants, Mzansi showed up, and showed out. At #SARugbyTravel, creating unforgettable rugby journeys is what we do. And this weekend reminded us that rugby isnât only a sport, itâs a feeling, a celebration, a deep part of who we are. From early airport greetings to pre-game build-ups, from the roar of the stadium to post-match dinners, this was an experience lived from the heart. You didnât just watch the Boks, you felt them.
đ„ Match Highlights that Stirred the Soul
The Springboks lit up the scoreboard with eight sensational tries, including a double from debutant Vincent Tshituka. Stars like Kolbe, Arendse, and De Allende proved once again why South African rugby stands tall. But it wasnât just about the scoreboard. It was the touching tribute to the late Cornal Hendricks. The pride of seeing our flag wave high. The roar of the fly-over that felt like a blessing from above.
âPaging Dr. Erasmusâ
Once again Springbok coach, Rassie Erasmus, earned his moniker of âDr. Rassieâ. Calling on the full âBomb Squadâ with 30 minutes to play, Inside Centre and human wrecking machine, Andre Esterhuizen, trotted on the field as part of the crew and slotted neatly onto the side of the scrum in the Flank position. A new âhybrid roleâ has been started.
